The biggest event of the year, the 2012 Pokémon World Championships took place on August 10-12, 2012 as 40 qualified players competed in Waikoloa Village, Hawaii! This tournament used a ruleset where players were only allowed to use Pokémon available in the National Pokédex. Players battled through 6 Swiss Rounds where the top 8 players advanced to a single-elimination bracket to determine the winner!
For the first time ever, the World Championships was live-streamed by GameSpot. Check out this video to see the event's stream and this playlist for battle videos gathered by Nugget Bridge.
