These are the event results from the Pokémon VGC 2017 Season! This page will include important tournament information and results from Regionals, Special Events, International Championships, and the World Championships during the 2016-2017 season!
VGC 2017 Ruleset
From September 1 to December 1, 2016, players competed using the 2016 GS Cup ruleset, playing Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire on the Nintendo 3DS under the following ruleset.
- Players are allowed to use up to two of the following Pokémon: Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde.
- Players may not use the following items: Soul Dew
- Players may only use Pokémon obtained from Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby, and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.
Starting December 1, 2016, the format switched to the seventh generation of Pokémon with matches played on Pokémon Sun and Moon using the following ruleset.
- Players may only use Pokémon obtained in the Alola Pokédex.
- The following Pokémon are banned: Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, Magearna, and Zygarde.
- Players may not use the following items: Mega Stones
- Players may only use Pokémon obtained from Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.
