VGC 2019 Season Information

This page will cover all important information the Pokemon Company has recently released that covers major information for the VGC 2019 season. This will include the Championship Points for events, Prize Money, and how to qualify for the 2019 World Championships.

VGC 2019 Event Series

Sun Series: September 4, 2018 to January 7, 2019

Moon Series: January 8, 2019 to April 1, 2019

Ultra Series: April 2, 2019 to June 23, 2019

Series are the used to map out a period of time where you're able to earn Championship Points. Once a Series is concluded, you won't be able to earn any more points for that series. For example, if you fill out your Sun Series BFL for Premier Challenges, any more points earned during that series at Premier Challenges won't count or be added to your overall Championship Points total.

Top 16 players will receive Pokémon TCG booster packs regardless of attendance in eligible markets.
1st–2nd place: 72 booster packs
3rd–4th place: 36 booster packs
5th–8th place: 18 booster packs
9th–16th place: 9 booster packs

International Championships

In a new move, there's a new way to earn stipends to the 2019 International Championships. Before, these trips were distributed based on the top players overall Championship Points. Now, they will be distributed through standalone time frames which means players who want the best chance at earning a Day 2 Worlds invite will need to perform well at events of all stages throughout the 2019 season.

Latin American Internationals: Trips to this event will be given out to the top Championship Points earner from April 30th - July 8th, 2018. Championship Points earned before this time frame won't count towards these trips.

Oceania Internationals: Trips to this event will be given out to the top Championship Points earner from July 9th - November 18th, 2018. Championship Points earned before this time frame won't count towards these trips.

European Internationals: Trips to this event will be given out to the top Championship Points earner from November 19th until the final date of Oceania Internationals. Championship Points earned before this time frame won't count towards these trips.

North American Internationals: Trips to this event will be given out to the top Championship Points earner from the day after Oceania Internationals to European Internationals. Championship Points earned before this time frame won't count towards these trips.

Qualifying for the World Championships

Day Two invitations are divided by rating zones as followed:

• Top 8 players in the United States and Canada
• Top 16 players in Europe
• Top 8 players in Latin America
• Top 8 players in Oceania

Players in Japan and South Korea will be awarded Day 1 and Day 2 invites as determined by their countries' qualification system.

Players who finish Top 4 at the 2018 World Championships will receive both invites and travel awards to the 2019 World Championships. These players will earn Day 1 invites and play on Friday and can only play on Saturday with a Day 2 invite by qualifying through 2019 Championship Points.
