Pokémon Announces Three VGC 2019 Online Competitions

Recently, it was announced that for the VGC 2019 season, 3 online competitions will take place, two International Challenges, and a Japan National Championships Qualifier.

November International Challenge

The first event is the November International Challenge. This event will use the VGC 2019 Sun Series rules. At this moment, we do not know when this event will take place, but what is confirmed is that the Top 30 Japanese players will earn an invite to the 2019 Japan National Championships for a shot at competing in the 2019 World Championships.

SPECIAL RULES

• Z-Crystals and Mega Stones are not permitted
• Blue Orb and Red Orb items are not permitted
• Rayquaza may not know the move Dragon Ascent

February International Challenge

The second event is the February International Challenge. This event will use the VGC 2019 Moon Series rules. At this moment, we do not know when this event will take place, but what is confirmed is that the Top 30 Japanese players will earn an invite to the 2019 Japan National Championships for a shot at competing in the 2019 World Championships.

SPECIAL RULES

• Ultranecrozium Z is not permitted, but all other Z-Crystals are permitted
• Mega Stones are not permitted
• Blue Orb and Red Orb items are not permitted
• Rayquaza may not know the move Dragon Ascent

Japan Nationals Qualifier

The third event is the Japan Nationals Qualifier, which is exclusive for players who own a Japanese 3DS system. This event will use the VGC 2019 Ultra Series rules. At this moment, we do not know when this event will take place, but what is confirmed is that the Top 40 Japanese players will earn an invite to the 2019 Japan National Championships for a shot at competing in the 2019 World Championships.

• All moves and items obtainable through normal gameplay are permitted
