The biggest event of the Pokémon VGC 2019 season was held as over 300 qualified players from across the globe traveled to compete at the 2019 World Championships in Washington, DC on August 16-18, 2019! Players who started on Day 1 played 9 Swiss Rounds whereas those who won 7 Rounds advanced to Day 2 Swiss. Players who advanced to Day 2 joined those who already had Day 2 invites where they played 7 Swiss Rounds and those who finished with two or fewer losses advanced to a single-elimination bracket to determine the winner.
The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) was in Washington, DC to broadcast the World Championships throughout the weekend with Aaron Zheng, Adam Dorricott, Duy Ha, Rosemary Kelley, Scott Glaza, and Gabby Snyder as casters.
