The premier event in Japan for the 2023 season occurred as 128 players traveled to compete at the 2023 Japan Nationals on June 10-11, 2023 in Chiba, Japan! Players could earn invites to Japan Nationals by qualifying for the initial Japan Nationals Qualifiers by placing in the top 150 from one of the three Global Challenges!
Players who qualified battled in the Japan Nationals Main Stage on May 14th where the top 64 players earned invites to the live portion of the event! However, because of errors with the way the tournament ran, a second qualifier was held on May 28th to invite 64 additional players to the live portion of the event. The 128 players at this event were divided into two separate brackets in a best-of-one double-elimination bracket until 8 players remained, with all matches having closed team lists.
The eight remaining players battled in a new best-of-one double-elimination bracket until the Grand Finals, which would be a best-of-three match. All matches here were open team lists though players would not be able to view opposing Tera Types. Players who finished in the top 4 earned a Day 2 Worlds invite and Travel Award, players who finished in the top 8 earned just a Day 2 Worlds invite, and players who finished in the top 64 earned a Day 1 invite to the World Championships.
